      Description

This is a task to change the way we get Analytics conversions. In order to provide multi distribution support conversions must be downloaded directly from the Analytics API.

Currently we are able to download Analytics conversions for Google through the AdWords API. Partner support manually links AdWords accounts with Analytics accounts and AdWords automatically imports the conversions. Every day the googlemcc.sh script downloads the conversionsManyPerClick column with the ad performance report. The conversions are then parsed into the conv column of staging.googlemcc and then the seConversions column of the wh.*GroupConv tables (daily/weekly/monthly). The whsummarizer populates the smb.merchant_performance table with this data which the UI retrieves using the SAPI PerformanceReportService API.

      In order to support Bing:

      • Analytics needs to be configured to report by Source / Medium so we can break reports out by Google or Bing. May require AdWords and Bing Ads account URLs need to be configured to use tracking tags.
      • AML needs to stop downloading ConversionsManyPerClick and other analytics columns. This will break clients using AdWords conversion pixels (if we have any).
      • AdWords accounts will eventualy need to stop importing data from Analytics. BUT NOT FOR MERCURY
      • AML needs to download conversions directly from the Analytics API and store the data somewhere where the UI and internal reports can access it. THIS WILL BE A MANUAL PROCESS

If there are any database changes the internal reports may need to be updated.
