AML does not support coverage areas. Regarding single/multiple proximity targets for coverage areas in SMS, I would guess that it would be simpler to have multiple targets. You could assign all the targets of the "child" locations of the coverage area to the coverage area itself. Creating a single area would require a much more complicated process.
